Want to cultivate a more holistic and healthy lifestyle, nurture your relationship with your body and find easy and practical ways of managing stress? There are many practices on the path of yoga that can help you to do all of these things! With the increasing popularity of yoga though it’s difficult to know where to start or what is the right class for you. In this 4-week series we will uncover the true meaning of yoga and learn the basic practices of this rich tradition: Asana (yoga postures), meditation, pranayama (breathing) and contemplation. Come as you are and in this small group setting you will receive attention and support to modify the practices in ways that are appropriate for your needs.
Have an injury and are afraid to practice? There are many ways that a yoga practice can help us to heal! Please email with any questions or concerns and we can figure out if this is an appropriate class for you to begin in.
This class will be an opportunity for you to integrate yoga into your every day life and ultimately to make a commitment to your own self-care. By the end of the series you will have a basic understanding of the different styles and practices of yoga, you will learn a basic sequence of asana that will support you in most asana classes and feel more empowered to choose a class that is right for you.

Please bring your own yoga mat and a journal and wear comfortable clothes to move in.

Ayurveda is an ancient system of healing aligned with the practices of yoga. It teaches us how to be in harmony with cycles of nature and the seasons through choices about our diet and lifestyle. In this talk we will discuss the 5 elements, the three doshas, what it means to be in and out of balance and how to restore balance when it is lost. Each person has a unique dosha, or combination of the elements. We will discuss how to know your dosha and how to make unique choices about your own health and well-being. Not everyone has the same needs when it comes to their health and so Ayurveda teaches us to honor ourselves as unique and sacred.
